Experience the Concord difference! Most retreat facilities have cabins or hotel style rooms, but Concord is more like your HOME away from home! We have four houses - that each have 6 to 8 bedrooms. Your group can enjoy their house – as they relax on sofas and chairs or around a game table in their house’s living and family rooms – that all feature a fireplace.. Instead of going back to a single room – people are encouraged to be together – creating a wonderful time of fellowship.
Concord is here to serve you – so you can serve others. Our houses help to create a wonderful experience. All of the large brick homes have air-conditioning and gas heat. Each house is perfect for 20 to 30 people or in combination – can handle up to over 120 people. Simple, functional, and comfortable… we let you concentrate on your retreat and enjoy your accommodations!
Concord also has two traditional cabins located right in the heart of the property. These are great for leaders, smaller groups, or overflow space. Many smaller groups might use one or two houses for some of there group and choose a cabin experience for others. All of the cabins include full bathrooms, air conditioning and central heating. It is the “classic” camp setting – with one large room filled with five or six bunk-beds.
What’s a retreat or camp without some FUN? At Concord, we want to give you a great selection of activities to appeal to all age groups, genders and timeframes. Yes, timeframes. We have a variety of activities that last a few hours – for blocks that you need to fill – but we also have plenty of activities designed to make it easy to keep everyone on the same schedule and to fill in the gaps.
For longer windows try our low ropes course & outdoor maze, basketball & volleyball, swimming pool, paintball course, campfire circles, frisbee golf or game fields, All of these activities are designed to last around 2 hours or can be used in combination to fill a “free time” window.
For shorter windows, we have a great obstacle course that is next to Concord Lodge. It takes about 2 minutes per person to complete the course and is a great way to get out some energy and spend a quick 30 minutes together. The game room has ping-pong, foosball, billiards and bumper pool tables. We have a great outdoor amphitheater and a fully loaded “costume” closet for quick skits or mini concerts. We have a photo scavenger hunt for the property, ready to hand out to your team for a quick team-building activity. The back porch has cornhole, hillbilly golf and horseshoe pits.
Our staff has seen so many GREAT ideas from other groups – we love to make suggestions. How about glow-stick capture the flag, the Concord Country Fair, the world’s largest banana split, a karaoke contest, movie night, zany olympics, ice cube freeze tag or a quick walk or run on our marked hiking trails.
We also have a list of great off-site activities like tubing or canoeing down the Cacapon River, snow tubing at the Cove, skiing at Bryce Ski Resort or Canaan Valley – both 1.5 hours away, golfing, fishing, hiking the George Washington National Forest and much more.
We love to have fun – come on out to West Virginia and we will show you the “Wild Wonderful” part of our great State.
Concord Retreat is here to Serve You! The Concord Lodge is a 10,000 square foot building that is the hub of our retreat campus. One of the main things Concord is known for is our amazing food. We get constant praise from our guests – that “your food is nothing like the camp food I was expecting”. We start with fresh ingredients and our trained staff, add some tender-loving care and consistent customer service to create an wonderful “Menu” that YOU select from. Concord is different than most retreat facilities because we let you pick the meals that you want us to serve. Also, the Concord Lodge has four different dining rooms that can accommodate groups of various sizes to give your group time to focus building relationships as you share a meal.
Our meeting rooms are very flexible. Some groups use one of the large rooms in their houses, others use our main meeting room with a stage, chairs and various lighting options, and others use one of our outdoor seating areas. We also have a Board Room for smaller groups. You tell us your schedule and where you want to meet and then we work to have it all set up the way you desire.
The game room is a very popular place for ping-pong, bumper pool, foosball, board games or billiards. It has a working fireplace to add some charm and is conveniently located below the main meeting area, which helps to keep folks entertained while last minute details are being set up.
Next to the Lodge, we have our historic Concord General Store that was built in the 1870s and served as the post office and country store for the “Town” of Concord, WV. We also have our Hillside Amphitheater which many groups use for concerts, skits and a place to give talks.
Our hope is that our facilities – allow you the chance to keep your folks happy and not distracted on other issues. Our goal is to make your life easy – while you focus on your group.
